Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has reunited with his secretarial administration course mates, Class 1998 of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology now known as Rivers State University, Nkpolu, Port Harcourt.
Speaking in his office at the weekend when he played host to them, the Deputy Governor expressed gratitude to his former colleagues for standing by him during his trying moments in the legal battles concerning the 2019 Bayelsa Governorship Elections.
A press release by the Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Media, Mr. Doubara Atasi, quoted the state number two man as saying that the support and solidarity of his course mates during his travails encouraged him greatly.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo expressed appreciation to God Almighty for keeping them alive to meet one another again after 22 years of graduation and expressed optimism that members of the set will continue to soar to greater heights.
He urged the ‘Class 98’ members to be grateful to God for his grace upon them and stressed the need for members to assist one another whenever it is within their powers to do so.
The Deputy Governor advocated regular meetings of the group which according to him will foster unity among them.
He said “I want to thank you people for telling the world that I was not an isolated degree holder because it could have been that I only had my degree, which means there was nobody in the class. But your presence has proved otherwise.
“So, it is a pleasure seeing all of you today. I want to thank God for keeping us alive and enabling us to see ourselves after many years. It is a pleasure seeing all these old faces after about 22 years of graduation.”
Earlier in an address, a member of the Department of Secretarial Administration Class ’98 of the Rivers State University, Mr. Harold Orji, had congratulated the Deputy Governor on his rise to his current position, describing him as a gallant and dogged achiever.
While commending him of his contributions to the development of the state as former Commissioner for Works, Mr Orji expressed confidence that the state Deputy Governor will perform creditably in his current task given his antecedents.
Mr. Orji also lauded Senator Ewhrudjakpo for finding time to identify with them despite his busy schedule and prayed God to strengthen him to deliver on the mandate of his office.
