‘It’s political blasphemy for APC to boast of claiming S’East in 2023’ – Sen Ohuabunwa

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has said that under the watch of the All Progressive Congress, APC-led federal government, the South East zone has suffered the worst political exclusion since the history of Nigeria.
Ohuabunwa who represented Abia North in the eight senate, dismissed as “empty boast and political blasphemy”, boasts by some APC chieftains that the party would claim the South East geopolitical zone in 2023.
The former Speaker ECOWAS Parliament who stated this in a media chat in Umuahia, said that the South East remained a traditional stronghold of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and could not for any reason go for APC.
Ohuabunwa said APC had no attraction in South East, hence it will be unimaginable to think the party can make any inroads in the zone come 2023.
The former Leader, House of Representatives said that the much progress and federal presence witnessed in the zone were all recorded during the tenure of PDP-led federal government.
According to Ohuabunwa, APC is the least party South East can contemplate of embracing as “the party has offered nothing but insult, vexation, neglect and malicious exclusion to the zone”.
The former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health and Communicable Diseases said that all the so-called APC chieftains from South East should be hiding their faces in shame because their party has not shown any recognition to South East.
His words: ” What do we say and leave the other? Is it in terms of quality political appointment or identifiable projects? How has APC shown regard for South East to warrant claiming the zone in 2023?”
On some PDP bigwigs defecting to APC ahead of 2023, Ohuabunwa said the affected persons “know what is pursuing them and what they are pursuing.”
Ohuabunwa said that the stock of political elite in South East “are firmly rooted in PDP and have not plans of leaving” for another party let alone APC.
He insisted that APC had not done anything to attract massive support from South East, adding that it will be too difficult for any political party to disloge PDP from the South East.
