The Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, has released timetable for the Local Government election in the state slated for Saturday, December 19,  2020.

Below is the detail of the timetable obtained by Wawa News Global :

*Time Table and Schedule of Activities Leading to December 19th 2020 Local Government Elections in Abia State.*

1. Issuance of Notice of date for the Local Government Election. 11th September 2020.

2. Collection of forms for Election by Political Parties. 25th September, 2020

3. Conduct of Primaries by Political Parties including Resolution of Disputes arising from Primaries. 21st September – 21st October 2020.

4. Submission of names of candidates to ABSIEC by Political Parties. 29th October – 12th November, 2020

5. Screening of Candidates by ABSIEC. Monday 16th November – Friday 27th November 2020

6. Hearing of Appeal / Complaints by Screening Committee. Wednesday 2nd Dec. – Thurs. 3rd Dec. 2020

7. Replacement of unqualified Candidates and Screening of replaced Candidates. Monday 7th Dec. 2020

8. Notice of withdrawal of nomination (if any) by candidates. Tuesday 8th Dec. – Wednesday 9th Dec. 2020.

9. Submission of final list/Nomination forms by Political Parties. Thursday 10th December, 2020.

10. Commencement of Campaign by Political Parties in Public. Friday 20th November, 2020

11. Training of Permanent Staff of the Commission Monday 16th November – Wednesday 18th Nov. 2020

12. Training of Ad-hoc Staff. Monday 30th Nov. – Friday 4th Dec. 2020

13. Submission of names of Polling agents for the Election to the Electoral officers of the LGA. Monday 7th Dec. – Friday 11th Dec. 2020

14. Return of List of candidates declared qualified to contest Election. Friday 11th Dec. 2020

15. Last Day for Campaigns. Thursday 17th Dec. 2020.

16. Date for Local Government Elections. Saturday 19th December. 2020.

17. Announcement of Results. Sunday 20th December 2020.

18. Run-off Elections (where necessary). Wed. 24th December, 2020.
