‘Nigeria running on auto pilot of corruption’ – Kanu
By Steve Oko
Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has said that “Nigeria is running on auto pilot of corruption”.
Kanu made the remark on a live broadcast while reacting to the investigation of the suspended Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.
He said the revelations on Magu’s corrupt tendencies had vindicated him over his long position that the much talked about fight against corruption by the President Muhammadu Buhari -led federal government was a huge joke.
The IPOB Leader who said no administration in the history of Nigeria was as corrupt as the present federal government, added that very soon all those who have connived to “steal the country dry ” shall all be exposed.
He said it was only the gullible minds that ever took the government’s anti graft war seriously, insisting it is only a propaganda tool to harass members of the opposition and deceive members of the international community.
Kanu accused the Fulani of being the most corrupt, yet pretending as saints.
He said they specialize in demonising people of other tribes but shielding their own who are even more corrupt.
The IPOB Leader wondered why former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, an Igbo, would be sent to jail for allegedly receiving N400 million while the former National Security Adviser, Col. Ibrahim Dasuki, a Fulani who allegedly gave him the money is left off the hook.
Kanu said open stealing of the ‘national cake’ has been going on with impunity since the inception of this administration.
The IPOB Leader lamented that the Southern Nigeria particularly the land of Biafra which produces the resources that sustain Nigeria continues to wallow in abject poverty and suffers environmental degradation, the North and Northerners live in opulence.
He said the so called fight against corruption was deceptive and vowed to expose other corrupt government officials.
According to Kanu, by the time the corruption perpetuated by top officials of this government is exposed, the affected officials will not attempt to travel abroad again or risk international embarrassment including arrest.
