Suspected Fulani herdsmen shoot man in Abia

Doctors in Abia State are now battling to save the life of a middle -aged man, Mr. Sunday Ayabia, following gunshot wounds he sustained when suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded his house on Saturday night.
The man was said to be in his house at Umuakata Owaza in Ukwa West Local Government Area of the state when suddenly three armed herdsmen invaded his home.

According to a family source, suspected Fulani herdsmen who were grazing their cattle in the community stormed the man’s house at dusk and opened fire.
The source said they shot the man at his upper should just below his neck region but he managed to escape to the nearby bush from where he was later picked by the villagers and rushed to the hospital.
According to the source, the victim is still in a critical condition in an undisclosed hospital as he has not been able to talk.
It is not yet clear if there were other victims of the attack in the community but there is panic and fury among the folks over the sad development.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna, said he was yet to get report of the incident.
He promised to make inquiries but as at the time of filing this report, he had yet to call back nor did he pick calls put back to his phone.
