Ohuabunwa urges PDP faithful to abide by party directives ahead of congresses

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa of Abia North senatorial district, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the zone as well as the state to ensure a peaceful Ward congress scheduled for tomorrow, March 14.
He also urged PDP faithful to abide by the directives of the party leadership in the state for a hitch -free exercise.
Ohuabunwa equally appealed to stakeholders of the party to restrict themselves to their wards and ensure a rancor -free congress in their areas in line with the directive of the PDP Leader in the state, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The senator who made the appeal in a press statement urged PDP members across the state to place the interest of the party above their personal interest.
According to Ohuabunwa, the life and survival of the party is much more important than any individual interest of its members, hence the need for members to work together as members of one family to ensure the unity of the party.
“There must be a party first for us to actualise our political ambition, so the life and survival of PDP should be paramount to all our party members “, Ohuabunwa said.
Ohuabunwa also urged PDP members to respect zoning arrangements in their various areas as directed by the party leadership and stakeholders.
He said that honouring such internal arrangements would promote peace, unity, cohesion and mutual trust among members and ultimately put PDP at a better position ahead of 2023.
The former Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament appealed to stakeholders and members of the party to support the emergence of competent and popular aspirants who would lead the party to greater heights at various levels of the forthcoming congresses.
He argued that the emergence of the wrong persons at the congresses would adversely affect the fortunes of the party ahead of 2023, hence the need for all to support only the popular aspirants to various positions at the congresses.
Ohuabunwa further advised aspirants at the congresses to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and eschew the spirit of rancor and desperation.
He urged them to condition their minds to accept the outcome of the exercise in good faith in the overall interest of the party.
He commended the leadership of the party for putting in place, adequate mechanisms for a successful and peaceful congresses.
He expressed optimism that the congresses would be peaceful and hitch -free across the state.
