Biafra may be restored before end of 2020 as Trump weighs in
By Steve Oko
There are indications that the struggles for Biafra independence may be actualised before the end of 2020.
Pointer to this emerged following the alleged “serious interest and passion” by close confidants and right-hand men of the American President Donald Trump for the project.
A source close to the Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, confided in Wawa News Global that Kanu’s recent invitation to the US for Trump’s rally was on the instance of Trump’s men who “are working assiduously behind the scene” to see to the materialisation of the Biafra project.
Kanu is currently in the US for Trump’s rally and his photos with Trump’s close ally, Steve Kings flooded the internet late Friday evening.
Kanu was among the dignitaries at the VIP stand during Trump’s rally in Iowa on Thursday where he briefly met with the Iowa State Governor Kim Reynolds.

The source said US under the watch of Trump is keen in assisting oppressed peoples of the world including Biafra achieve their independence.
According to the source, Kanu who has held several diplomatic consultations with top US officials including Parliamentarians is likely to hold private discussion with Trump on the Biafra project before returning to his base in the United Kingdom which has also shown “willingness” to help Biafra achieve political independence.
Kanu has been engaging in serious diplomatic consultations and tour of some Western nations to mobilise international support for Biafra restoration since his miraculous escape from the invading federal troops that stormed his Umuahia home in September 2017.
The state of Israel which haboured Kanu for close to two years since he fled Nigeria has also been supportive to the Biafra cause.
It’s not yet clear if the IPOB Leader would secure the protection of key Biafra allies including US, Israel and Canada to attend the burial of his parents – HRM Eze Israel Kanu, and Lolo Sally Kanu slated for February 14, 2020.
Kanu’s parents, according to family source, died of heart -related ailments in 2019 as a result of trauma they sustained during the military invasion of their compound in 2017 which claimed over 28 lives.
There are fears that the Nigeria government which unilaterally outlawed IPOB after declaring the non-violent group a terrorist organisation amidst public condemnation (of government’s action) is likely to ambush Kanu for rearrest should he step into the country without serious foreign back up.
But Trump’s interest in Biafra project is sending shock waves to Aso Rock according to findings.
America’s recent placement of Nigeria on the list of countries on religious persecution, and slamming of travel ban on immigrants seeking relocation to US are also being interpreted as signs that ‘it’s no longer business as usual’ for Abuja.
The political developments in the country particularly the worsening insecurity in the land which is now fuelling the agitation for peaceful fragmentation of the country or at least restructuring are signs that the 100-year old forcefull amalgamation or political marriage of the over 250 tribes in the country by the Colonial Masters is headed for divorce.
The recent formation of Amotekun, a regional security outfit by the Yoruba tribe in the South West zone has also sent strong signals to Abuja that it’s not only the Igbo or Biafra agitators that want Nigerian peacefully dismembered for more secure, peaceful and prosperous independent nation states.
According to a source privy to the happenings, “Biafra’s restoration is imminent and irreversible unless Trump does not secure his second tenure which is very unlikely”.
” Trump’s interest in the Biafra struggles has made the federal government uncomfortable and jittery “, the source said.
Recall that scores of Biafra agitators were killed and dozens wounded in Port Harcourt during a pro -Trump rally about three years ago.
The source said President Trump after he was properly briefed about “the ugly and genocidal incident”was highly incensed with the perpetrators of the crime and had vowed to help Biafra get their freedom.
