Abia North : Nkole tackles Bourdex for urging NASS not to declare Kalu’s seat vacant
By Steve Oko
A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia State, Isaac Nkole, has berated the Abia North senatorial candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in the 2019 poll, Chief Bourdex Onuoha Ogba over his recent comment on the seat of the embattled Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing the zone at the senate.
The APGA chieftain had reportedly asked the leadership of the National Assembly to ignore the clamour by the people to declare Kalu’s seat vacant following his conviction by the court on N7.2 billion fraud charge
Senator Kalu (APC) is currently serving a 12-year jail term although he is still challenging  the High  court judgment at the Appeal court.
But according to Bourdex who spoke in Abuja when he reportedly visited the APC national secretariat  “It is preposterous and presumptuous to make such a demand to declare his (Kalu’s) seat vacant.
He was also quoted as saying :“Granted that the wheel of justice grinds slowly and surely, those of us in politics should strive to follow the rule of law without doing anything to circumvent the process.
“We should stand for fairness; and patience is necessary to ensure that justice is done both for the state and citizens and society at large.”
But Nkole who sharply disagreed with Bourdex said the statement credited to the APGA candidate was ” shameful and sycophantic”.
Nkole said it was shocking a disappointing that a senatorial candidate could so flagrantly oppose the collective will and position of the people because of  pecuniary gains.
He said Bourdex “made such a sycophantic  remark” in his desperation to return to APC where he hoped to replace Kalu.
Nkole insisted that Abia North people were resolute in the clamour for Kalu’s seat to be declared vacant because of the huge loss the ugly situation had inflicted on the zone.
He said Abia North had completely been sidelined by the federal government following the absence of a representative for the zone at the senate.
According to him all the projects captured in the 2019 and even the 2020 budgets had been abandoned as the zone has nobody currently at the red chamber to facilitate them.
Nkole who  said the major concern of every true son and daughter of Abia North now is how to restore its missing voice at the senate, accused Bourdex of sabotaging the people’s interest.
” Bourdex has just shown his true colour as a political desperado ready to sabotage and sacrifice the people’s collective interest on the altar of selfish interest”.
Nkole who said there was no going back in the move to replace Kalu “so he can have time to face his fraud case “, urged the Senate to ignore Bourdex who he claimed “is after his pocket”.
He revealed that over 20,000 electorates from Abia North had already indicated their interest to append their signature for Kalu’s recall “once the constitutional requirements for the process is fulfilled”.
