‘IPOB not a terror group’ – Anambra monarch
By Steve Oko
Contrary to the pronouncement by the Federal Government that the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra was a terrorist organisation,
the traditional ruler of Uhu-eri, Obofia Village in Agulezechukwu, in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra state has insisted that the pro-Biafra group “is not a terror organisation”.
The federal government had in 2017 declared IPOB a terrorists organisation and subsequently proscribed it but IPOB has since challenged the action while the suit is still pending in the court.
Describing the unilateral action of the federal government as provocative and crude display of injustice against the non-violent Biafra agitators , the monarch advised the government to rescind the action.
The monarch who spoke during the official hair cutting ceremony of his one and half years -old son in his palace, argued that IPOB had never been associated with any violence unlike herdsmen and Boko Haram, and should not be tagged a terror group unless “terror has a different meaning in Nigeria”.

Eze Azubuike wondered why armed herdsmen who had unleashed horror on innocent Nigerians especially agrarian communities in the Middle Belt and some parts of Southern Nigeria had not been designated as terrorists by the same federal government which was curious to brand IPOB terrorists.
The royal father who is a member of the Jewish sect insisted that “IPOB is merely an armless freedom fighting organisation which does not deserve the harsh treatment it receives from the federal government “.
He, therefore, urged the federal government to as a matter of urgency, unproscribe IPOB and open a channel of dialogue with the leadership of the group with a view to addressing their grievances.
The monarch said that confrontation and molestation approach adopted by government could never bring about peaceful resolution of the growing agitation for Biafra restoration being championed by IPOB.
The epoch making event of the Jewish community was attended by Rabbis, innumerable Jewish worshippers and traditional rulers from the Old Eastern region.
Eze Okonkwo, an ardent Jewish adherent described hair-cutting ceremony of his son, Master Levi Azubuike Yaweh Diomimi Chukwudieze as a great occasion of the Jewish religion.
“He’s my youngest child and he’s a Nazarite and today, we want to cut his hair in keeping with our tenets of faith. My son is a Nazarite just like Elijah, Elisha and Moses were Nazarites”, he explained.
