Breaking : Orji Kalu convicted of N7.1 b fraud

Former Governor of Abia State and the senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has been found guilty of N7.1 billion fraud charge by a Federal High Court Lagos presided over by Justice Mohammed Idris.
Kalu is to serve 12 years in prison.
The Senate Chief Whip was convicted of 39 counts of fraud charges leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Kalu was charged alongside Jones Udeogo, the state Commissioner for Finance during his tenure as the governor.
Kalu’s company, Slok Nig. Ltd., was also a defendant in the suit.
While Kalu and his company were convicted on all the 39 counts of the fraud charge, Udeogo was found guilty of 34 counts.
Judgement on the matter was earlier scheduled for Tuesday Dec 2nd but later postponed to Thursday for undisclosed reasons thus raising tension among Abia North constituents who have curiously watched the proceedings.
