Abia North : Jubilation in Ohuabunwa camp as APGA strong man returns to PDP
By Steve Oko
There was jubilation weekend in the political camp of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as a strong man of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Ndiokereke Abam in Arochukwu Local Government Area, Mr. Uba Stanley Aja, has returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of possible supplementary poll between Ohuabunwa and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
Recall that the Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia had invalidated Kalu’s election on the grounds of non compliance with the principles of margin of lead and ordered a supplementary poll between him and the PDP candidate.
Ever since the judgement was delivered , intrigues and political realignments have been going on in the zone as both camps Marshall their arsenal for a possible clash if the appeal court Owerri where Kalu had approached to challenge the verdict upholds the position of the tribunal.
The decampee who worked as the Coordinator for APGA governorship candidate, Dr. Alex Otti; and its Abia North senatorial candidate, Chief Bordex Onuoha Ogba, said he had resolved to return to PDP his former party.
He said he sacrificed so much for APGA in the 2019 elections ,and was determined to redouble such efforts to enhance the fortunes of PDP.
Aja said he was ready to make any possible sacrifice to deliver PDP and its candidate in any election in Abam.
He particularly vowed to help deliver Ohuabunwa in the event of a supplementary poll between him and Kalu.
Aja said he would bring to bare his political sagacity and experience for the success of PDP and its candidates in the area.
Receiving him back into PDP fold, former Counsellor of the ward, Enoch Kalu Eke, thanked the decampee for being courageous enough to return to the ‘big umbrella’.
Eke who said the political future of the ward as well as the entire zone and state could only be guaranteed in PDP , urged other people in the opposition to find their way back to the party.
He described Abia North as PDP stronghold ,adding that the people are ready to “restore their stolen mandate.”
Adding his voice, a PDP chieftain and strong supporter of Ohuabunwa, Hon. Isaac Nkole, commended Aja for tracing his way back to PDP.
He described him as a dogged fighter and political colossus whose return to PDP would bring a lot of fortunes to the party.
The event was attended by party members and supporters.
