Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has announced the death of his mother, Ugoeze Sally Kanu.

The IPOB leader who disclosed this in a three- minute video clip on his facebook page, Sunday morning said she passed on in a German hospital on August 30, 2019.
Kanu blamed his mother’s death on the September 14, 2019 military invasion of his father’s compound in Afaraukwu Umuahia during the infamous Operation Python Dance ll.
According to him the trauma of the invasion was a major cause of her death as she saw corpses of some IPOB members killed by the invaders, hence she became emotionally broken.
“Today I announce the passing of my mother Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Kanu. May Chukwu Okike Abiama grant her eternal rest”, kanu said in an emotion -laden voice.
He said his mother would always be remembered for her devotion and passion for the Biafra struggle.
Kanu added that the only way his mother could be honoured would be the restoration of Biafra independence.
He said he would push ahead with the struggle for Biafra self rule despite the demise of his mother, adding that her death is part of the painful sacrifices recorded in the struggle.
Kanu solicited continued prayers for the family during their moment of grief while praying God to grant her soul eternal repose in heaven.
Meanwhile the family compound has become a Mecca of sorts as sympathisers besige it to register their condolences.
When Wawa News Global visited the palace Sunday afternoon, mourners were seen condoling with the family members.
Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel was observed in a solemn and mournful mood as he received visitors to the palace.
He recounted how the mother was traumatized and emotionally destabilised as a result of the horror and gorry sight in their compound following the September 14 ,2017 military invasion and massacre of unarmed Biafra agitators.
The Prince said the family was in deep pains over the loss of their vibrant mother whom she said was full of life and vigour.
