Abia H’Assembly, best in S’East  – group

The infrastructural rebirth in the Abia State House of Assembly has simply been adjudged the best in the South East geopolitical zone by a group known as the Peoples Rights Organization.

 

The human rights group made the assertion at the end of  its  14-day assessment-tour at the various State Houses of Assembly in the South East.

Speaker of the House,  Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji has shortly after the House went on recess in July embarked on massive renovation of the Assembly complex , a project that has made the complex a beauty to behold .

“The Abia State House of Assembly’s interior and exterior complexes under the speakership of Rt. Honourable Engr.Chinedum Orji, emerged the most commendable giant strides amongst the five States in the Southeast Region of Nigeria who have renovated and created a magnificent edifices in and around the hallowed chamber within three months of being sworn-in as Speakers and Principal Officers of State Houses of Assembly”, the group said in a statement.

Spokesman of the group , Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, in the statement made available to Wawa News Global said :

“Our 14-day assessment tour in various State Houses of Assembly in the Southeast is a testament of that fact that some States in the Region are yet to confront the reality of serious legislative contents.

“It is therefore very obvious to state categorically that many of our State Houses of Assembly in the Southeast Region, contain so many dilapidated, dirty and awkward complexes where reptiles and animals attack workers to denigration, hopelessness and shame. Imo State House of Assembly complex of both the interior and exterior domains is an eyesore.

“The shocking state of infrastructural decay in our various legislative chambers have left our law makers not to feel psychologically sound and comfortable to make intelligent and effective laws that would better the lives of our people.

“Our findings and conclusions have confirmed that the proliferation of impoverished environmental complexes is openly affecting the cognition of our State lawmakers not to create laws that guarantee Community Policing, protection of lives and property, job creation, employment, payment of workers’ salaries and direct human capital development.

“It is justifiable and confirmable to inform the World that out of the five (5) Eastern States we visited, only the Abia State House of Assembly under the Speakership of Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji, has instantaneously renovated and deeply created new interior and exterior complexes of the State legislature within 3-months of assumption in office as a Speaker of the 7th Abia House of Assembly.

“We urge and enjoin various State Governors and Honourable Speakers of the Southeast Houses of Assembly to always make meticulous appropriations with a strict follow-up of the proposed budgets made for the serenity of the various State Assembly to enable lawmakers comfortably make laws that would swiftly build the Igboness of our Eastern Region and to achieve the indelible dreams that would equip us to fight against the forceful possessions of our patrimony by criminals, bandits, oppressors and foreign jihadist invaders who are hell bent to decimate, maim, sodomise, despise, embarrass, humiliate, rape and kill us for no significant reasons.

“State Houses of Assembly where laws are made and assimilated to the Executive for speedy implementations must not look like poultry houses or places where pigs are harboured and fed. If a place where laws are made is looking inhabitable, dirty, decayed and uncomfortable, its effects could be unproductive and disastrous to the detriment of the electorates who voted for sound, healthy and productive legislations.

“We therefore commend Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and the Abia State Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon.Engr.Chinedum Orji, for the landmark impartation and giant strides in the 7th Assembly. We however sincerely charge other Southeast State Houses of Assembly to follow suit on what is happening in the Abia State House of Assembly”.
