Abia Central : Supporters hold victory party for sen Orji

Supporters of Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central district, Friday held a victory party in celebration of his recent court victory.
The National /State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Wednesday , threw away the petition by Senator Nkechi Nwogu (APC), challenging Orji’s victory at the February 23rd senatorial election.

Nwogu’s petition was struck out for lack of merit.


Meanwhile Orji’s supporters thronged out in their numbers to his campaign office at Ojike Street Umuahia to celebrate his victory at the tribunal.

The victory party organised by his Liason Officer, Hon. Ifeanyi Umere was in preparatory to the main celebration to be held when the former Governor who has been away for some time returns to the state, according to a source.

Speaking at the glamorous event, Special Guest of Honor and former Commissioner for Public Utilities, Hon. Chidiebere Nwoke, described the tribunal’s verdict as a legal confirmation of Orji’s mandate overwhelming conferred on him by the people.

He said Senator Orji would always floor his opponents in any election in the state as the hold him in high esteem because of his track records.
The former Commissioner regretted that Nwogu instead of accepting defeat at the poll headed for the tribunal against wise counsel only to be awarded N1million cost after another crushing defeat by Orji.
Nwoke said that the N1 million cost should be quickly recovered from the APC candidate.

“Anybody that knows her should ask her to pay the cost immediately because we can make her uncomfortable “, he declared.
He thanked Orji’s fans and the entire Abia Central district for their massive support for Orji ,while urging them to remain steadfast in their support for him.

According to him, the zone will witness more transformations during Orji’s second tenure , assuring that he will deliver on his campaign promises.
The former Commissioner restated Orji’s readiness to quit the senate after his second term to give opportunity for the younger generation.
In his remarks also, Commissioner nominee, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu, said the party was a mark of appreciation to God for granting Orji victory at the tribunal.

He commended the Senator’s media team for packaging the event and urged them to sustain their support for him.
He also thanked the people of Abia Central for their unwavering support for Orji.
Speaking also, the Deputy Chairman of Umuahia North Local Government Area, Mr. Eze Afara, said the celebration was in recognition of “peace, equity and Justice “.
Adding his voice, former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Lucky Akabuike, said those who challenged Orji at the poll did so not to win but to spite and humiliate him.

He, however, expressed delight that the former Governor had defeated them all both at the poll and also at the tribunal.
Later in an interview, the organiser of the victory party, Hon. Umere said it was his little way of showing his joy and appreciation to God for his principal’s triumph.
He said he was confident Orji’s victory would be upheld by the tribunal because the people overwhelming gave him their mandate at the poll.
Umere called on Orji’s challenger to rather rally support for him instead of dissipating more energy and resources at the court.
