Determined to effectively combat the rising spate of insecurity in Enugu State, Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has procured 360 patrol vans for security agencies in the state including Neighbourhood Watch and Forest Guards.

vans from Innoson Motors, a local automobile firm.

Gov. Ugwuanyi also hinted of his plans to set up a Security Trust Fund that would ensure water -tight security operations in the state.

He solicited the support and cooperation of the State Assembly as well as Ndi Enugu, home and abroad, to ensure the success of the scheme.
Wawa News Global recalls that Abia State Government, had three months ago also placed order for 100 units of Innoson patrol vans but took delivery of 25 units while awaiting the balance.
Ugwuanyi who conducted journalists round Government House Enugu where 100 units of the security vehicles were parked said the move was to enhance security operations at the community level.

The Governor said 100 pieces of the vans were for use by the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps.
He added that the remaining 260 vehicles, which were approved during his recent security meeting with members of the State Assembly, Local Government Council Chairmen, the Director of State Services (DSS) and the Security Chiefs of DSS in the council areas, would be distributed to the 260 electoral wards in the state.
According to Ugwuanyi, the security vehicles will be deployed to provide services for community policing, Vigilante/Neighborhood Watch and Forest Guard operations.
Ugwuanyi also hinted of plans to acquire motorcycles for distribution to communities to improve security in rural areas.
