Orji Kalu’s claims of riches before becoming gov, deceitful – Nkole

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abam , Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State, Isaac Nkole, has knocked Senator Orji Uzor Kalu , saying that Kalu’s claims of being stupendously rich prior to his emergence as Abia Governor was “a ruse, a scam and untenable”.

Nkole who made the outburst in a chat with our correspondent argued that if Kalu was as wealthy as he claimed before becoming Governor, certain indices would have confirmed it.

He wondered why Kalu did not have a recognisable successful business before becoming governor or chose to live in a low profile estate in Aba if he were as wealthy as he claimed.

Nkole said Kalu’s sudden wealth after becoming governor only confirmed suspicion in some quarters that he diverted the state treasury to his private purse.

“I have taken a whole lot of time to ponder and investigate Chief Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu (MON) on how and when he bacame this rich.

“Before he became Governor of Abia State, Slok had nothing. No Market/ investment value. Suddenly, he became an owner of Shipping Line, Sun newspapers, First Bank International Congo Democratic Republic and Gambia.

“Also, in the same Gambia he owns an airline and other investments he made since then.

Why would a stupendously rich Orji Kalu live at 9, Nweke street, Aba (collection of three small sized bungalows) as a tenant before he became the governor whearas an average Ariaria Trader owned a better accomodation as at 1999.

“The truth is that before 1999 all we heard was that Orji Kalu had money but has nothing to show for it.

“When money finally came, evidence came along.The mansions/ Communities he built at Igbere, his hometown and at Margret avenue, GRA, Aba (land he purchased from Late Chief Ogbonnaya Maduka)are more like what Orji Uzor Kalu could have built before 1999 if he had money.

“The big investments followed systematic looting of Abia State treasury. Chief Orji Uzor Kalu hijacked all intervention funds (world Bank), Local Government Allocations through Caretaker Committees in the state and transferred same to his personal Bank accounts in Europe and America.Today Orji Uzor Kalu is in the Senate.

“ABIANS, OUR MUMU DON DO”.
