Ohuabunwa commends Ikpeazu for providing relief materials, security for Isu IDPs
By Steve Oko
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has commended Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State for providing relief materials for the Internally Displaced Peoples, IDPs in Isu communities and directing security agencies to beef up security in Izu and the entire Arochukwu ancient kingdom.
Scores of IDPs sacked from their homes by their Cross Rivers neighbouring community following a bloody land dispute have continued to live in a primary school under inhumane conditions since one year after the clash .

Respite, however, came their way when the State Government donated some relief materials to them following public outcry over their hash and pitiable conditions.
Gov. Ikpeazu who donated the materials further directed that adequate security be provided for the IDPs and other communities in the entire Arochukwu against any invaders.
Ohuabunwa noted that the action of the Governor was contained in the resolution of the Senate following his motion while at the red chamber, but noted that the federal government was yet to “effectively respond”.

Ohuabunwa who is still challenging the election of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu at the election petitions tribunal expressed concern over the living condition of the IDPs and appealed to the federal government to come to their rescue.
He also called for a quick resolution of the boundary dispute to avoid further clashes, while urging security agencies to permanently maintain their presence in the disputed areas.
Senator Ohuabunwa in a press statement by his Media Aide, Mr. Isaac Nkole appealed to the IDPs not to despair but have faith in God, assuring them that very soon they would return to their home.
