Michael Okpara varsity women association launches journal

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike Women Association (MOUAUWA) has launched her ‘Multi-disciplinary Journal of Women Studies.’

The journal, which was the first of its kind, was luanched during the women’s 2019 August Meeting and confernment of “Champion of the Year” award at Umudike on Thursday.

Speaking at the unveiling of the journal, the Vice President of MOUAUWA, Prof. Nnenna Oke said the journal was a well researched work by seasoned scholars, which cut across various topics.

She said it was one of the trail-blazing efforts of the women, adding that it had come to stay.

While unveiling the journal, the Special Guest and Chairman/Chief Executive of Dozzy Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel Chukwudozie lauded the women for their feat.

Chukwudozie, who was represented by his General Manager, Communications, Sir Oselloka Offoh, described the journal as a masterpiece and recommended it to every woman and others.

Earlier in her address, the President of the association, Mrs. Bertha Otunta expressed joy for the journal, saying it was a dream come true.

She also expressed gratitude to God for the work in progress of the association’s Skills Acquisition Centre.

Otunta said the building had advanced beyond decking level, even as she solicited support for its completion.

While thanking the women for their presence, she said, ” August Meeting is a time for women to celebrate their achievements together and set goals for the coming year.”

Highlight of the event was the confernment of the “Champion of Year” award on Dr. Daniel Chukwudozie.

The event wittnessed interesting activities among the women including dance competition, Maggi cooking demo, health talk among others.
