Update on discovery of three decomposing corpses in pastor’s house in Abia

Residents of Umuobia Housing Estate in Olokoro, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State, have been thrown into confusion following the discovery of three decomposing bodies in the house of a pastor in the area.
The victims according to police include the pastor and Founder of Wind of Glory Church Ohokobe, Pastor Blessed Kelechi Iwuanyanwu; his assistant, Pastor Kalu Ikeagwu; and Woman Leader, Ruth Andrew.
According to the report, residents of the area had raised alarm following foul stench emanating from the pastor’s apartment.
Following the alarm, detectives from the State Criminal Investigative Department, CID stormed the building for investigations and evacuation of the corpses.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Geoffrey Ogbonna who confirmed the incident said the cause of the death was not yet established.
He however said preliminary investigations indicated the deceased might have been victims of robbery attack as they sustained machete wounds on their body.
Ogbonna added that somebody who had been to the house before the incident said electronic gatgets in the house were carted away by the assailants.
According to him the incident occurred either last week Saturday, October 13 or early Sunday morning.
He said the assistant pastor might have gone to the house of the 27-year old founder who was still a bachelor on Saturday night with the intention of coming to church the next day from there.
Members of the church waited in vain for their pastors on Sunday, October 14 but non showed up, however they continued with the church service.
Search for the pastors intensified as no information on their whereabouts was available until foul ordour started emanating from the pastor’s apartment.
Relatives and church members at the scene of the incident say they suspect that the victims might have been murdered.
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State CID, Patrick Edung who led the police to evacuate the bodies, said investigations had commenced on the incident.
He described the incident as tragic, assuring that no stone shall be left unturned in an effort to unravel the truth behind the incident.
Meanwhile the corpses have been deposited at the mortuary .
