Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has said that the mission to rescue Nigeria is a joint task that requires the support and cooperation of like minds.
Ekweremadu who made the submission in a press statement said Nigeria was on the precipice and needed to be urgently rescued from the cabal holding her hostage.
The Deputy Senate President who spoke on the heels of the emergence of former Vice President , Atiku Abubakar, said progressives would join hands with Atiku to fix Nigeria.
“The mission to rescue Nigeria towers above individual interest and it is one that we cannot afford to fail Nigerians”, he said.
In a press statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Uche Anichukwu, Ekweremadu congratulated Atiku on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 poll.
Ekweremadu who described Atiku as a very credible and experienced man for the job said he was the candidate to beat at the poll.
According to him, the current occupant of Aso Rock is already jittery because his replacement has emerged.
Ekweremadu commended other aspirants for their show of sportsmanship even in the face of defeat.
“I commend the aspirants for the maturity, decorum, friendship, and mutual respect that characterised the jostle for the presidential ticket”, he said.
He urged them and the party faithful to continue to work together for the party’s victory in the 2019 general elections.
Ekweremadu also commended PDP leadership and members of the congress committee for organising an transparent congress.
“This is a watershed and a momentous occasion for the PDP and indeed the nation. More important in the race was the transparent, free, fair, credible, and peaceful process.
“I commend the party leadership and the Convention Planning Committee for giving us one of the best primary elections in Nigeria’s history. Our party has, by this, demonstrated the full revival of internal democracy and total rebranding for the best democratic ethos.”
Similarly, Senator Theodore Orji representing Abia Central senatorial zone has described Atiku as a competent hand to take Nigeria out of the woods.

Orji who congratulated the former Vice President on his emergence said PDP would win the 2019 presidential poll.
He said Atiku had the capacity and capability to unseat the inccumbet President.
The former Governor commended PDP leadership and members for their peaceful comportment at the poll saying the party is now more united formidable.
