President Buhari
One of the leading presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Kabiru Turaki (SAN), said President Muhammadu Buhari popularity among Northern voters has nosedived.
The Kebbi State born legal luminary said the President would not get a single vote from the Shii’te Islamic adherents in 2019 because of the way he has dealt with their leader.
The leader of the Islamic Shii’te moment, Ibrahim El-Zazzkey has remained in detention since his arrest in 2015 despite court rulings that he should be freed.
He said about six million members of the movement had already secured their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) with the sole aim of voting out Buhari in 2019.
Turaki, who spoke through the Director of Publicity, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki Campaign Organisation, Sola Atere, said Buhari would no longer have the 12 million block vote he received from the North in 2015.
Turaki who said Buhari got sympathy votes in the region when he ran against a sitting President in 2015 would be shocked by the outcome of 2019 .
He said Buhari had been tried and found deficient by Nigerians whom he has hugely disappointed with his poor governance.
“When you have not been in power, you can make all sorts of forecasts. Now the scenario has changed. Nigerians have seen to what extent the APC government can perform.”
Turaki further said “so-called 12 million votes Buhari is laying claim at each election is deeply depleted because Nigerians have seen the mis-governance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last three years.”
“Where people are complaining that they cannot even have one square meal, how do you expect them to come out and aggravate votes up to 12 million for somebody who has been the architect of their misfortune? This is a government that has been making mistakes at every point in time,” he added.
