President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s key youth support group, the City Boys Movement (CBM), has appointed the immediate-past Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, popularly known as Ikukuoma Abia, as its Abia State Chairman.

The movement also announced the appointment of Mr Gberemakor Okechukwu as Abia State Coordinator.

The appointments were disclosed by the Abia State Director of CBM and former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mayor Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu, who described the development as a major boost to the movement’s political mobilisation drive in the state.

Mayor Igbokwe, in a statement, said the appointments signalled a strategic alliance between the youth-driven political platform and experienced political actors with proven grassroots appeal.

He described Hon. Orji as a respected legislator widely acknowledged for his leadership qualities and deep grassroots engagement.

Orji, a two-term lawmaker, served as the 11th Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly from 2019 to 2023, “during which period he was noted for promoting legislative independence and institutional stability,” the statement said.

The statement further described Mr Okechukwu as “a seasoned public service professional with extensive experience in finance, administration and governance”.

It expressed confidence that his leadership would strengthen grassroots mobilisation and drive support for the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda across Abia State.

According to the statement, the appointments form part of CBM’s ongoing efforts to reposition its organisational structure and expand its operational reach within the state.

Mayor Igbokwe described the development as a turning point for the City Boys Movement in the South-East.
