Eid-el-Kabir: Sen Ohuabunwa felicitates Muslims

* Calls for fervent prayers to end insurgency

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has felicitated the Nigerian Muslims as they join their counterparts across the globe to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.

The former Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament in his Sallah message wished Muslims a very happy celebration and urged them to use the period to show love to their neighbours.

Senator Ohuabunwa enjoined Muslims to imbibe the spirit of charity, generosity and sacrificial giving to the less priviledged, widows, orphans and internally displaced persons.

He also tasked Muslims to use the occasion to pray fervently for an end to the growing insecurity across the country.

Ohuabunwa noted that Nigeria is at the cross roads following the menacing activities of insurgents, bandits and violent Fulani herdsmen.

According to him military confrontation alone with the perpetrators may not bring the needed solution, hence the need for religious practitioners in the country to seek urgent divine intervention.

The former Chairman, Senate Committee on Primary Health and Communicable Diseases, further urged Muslims to strictly adhere to the necessary protocols and personal hygiene on covid-19 to avoid getting infested during the festivities.

He noted that it was better to celebrate this year’s sallah in low key and stay safe than to flout the covid -19 regulations and hazard the risk of the global pandemic.

Ohuabunwa also charged Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace and unity of the country as well as an end to coronavirus pandemic.

He wished the Muslim community in Abia and their counterparts across the country a peaceful Sallah, and urged them to be their ‘brother’s keeper’.
