The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Mohammed, on Saturday, inaugurated the 2019 election petition tribunals.
The tribunals comprising 250 Judges will handle petitions arrising from the National Assembly, Governorship & State Assembly Election Petition Tribunals.
The outing was the first outing of the Acting new CJN who was sworn-in on Friday by President Muhammadu Buhari amidst nation-wide condemnation.
Mohammad replaced the substantive CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, who is facing non assets declaration charge before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Wawa News Global reliably gathered that Onnoghen was absent at the ceremony
that held at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile there has been public outcry over the removal of Onnoghen without due process.
