X-raying Gov Otti’s road infrastructural strides in Abia
By Ifeanyi Okpan
“The closely held corporation, that’s, the company whose investors are few, regardless of capitalization must have at its financial core men of generous heart and stout courage, who will infuse the structure with their dedication and sense of purpose” Shepherd’s Law of Economics:Book CVI, Chapter 38.”
It’s against this backdrop that we bring to the fore the vehicle that drives the Governor, Alex Chioma Otti ‘s OFR infrastructural development strides in Abia State.
The Ministry of Works ably led by Engr Don Otumchere Oti FNSE and his team who have dedicatedly bought into the Vision with profound commitment towards firing the infrastructural Agenda of the Governor who came prepared for governance without any form of distractions to give succour to the people.
From the first blast of whistle for this fixed race;at the swearing-in arena, he laid bare his transformational Covenant with Abians. The visionary and pragmatic Executive Governor of Abia State has not left any stone unturned as he has continued to fire on his road construction, reconstruction and rehabilitation agenda verifiably in all the 3 Senatorial Zones of the state. This administration which believes that good road network is the bedrock of socoi-economic development, has constructed 41 roads, out of which 22 have been completed with streetlights and 15 commissioned while others are at various stages of completion Under road rehabilitation and maintenance 168 road that hitherto were in a terrible state as a result of negligence by past administration are receiving attention, and 138 out of the 168 are completed while others are ongoing.
When the opposition deluded themselves that all these are mere “garagara” of the Nigerian Politicians that the steam would run out; just as the year winds down came the good news ofl flagging off yet another set of 12 roads for construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation in different Senatorial zones of the state.
These roads, when realised, will not only ensure interconnectivity of rural to urban, but also would enhance the socio-economic drive of those residents and improve aesthetics in the areas, boost security and welfare of the citizens.
These projects include
5.5km Onuimo-Abia Tower of Peace,7.15km Onuinyang-Bende; Okporoenyi-Oboro- Ikwuano section one;Onyinyang- Okporoenyi- Oboro-Ikwuano, section two;11.5km Ntigha-Mbawsi-Umuala Rd,11.45km Obehie-Umudiabia- Owaza Rd,11.27km Mbala-Umuaku-Ngodo Rd;2.21km Umuogo-Nsukwe-Ubakala Ring road ;12.6km Ohanze Ibu;6.9km Umuopara Ring road;Orpet junction-Umuafai- Lodu-Ahiaku Rd and Omenuko Bridge- Ozu Abam Rd.
It is worthy of mentioned here that the road infrastructure sector will be a beehive of activities to solidify the state as a massive construction site as the commissioning of seven (7) newly completed roads will be done simultaneously with the flagging off of the aforementioned 12 roads starting from Monday the 25th November,2024. They include include Dozie Way; Umuocham; Umule; Ndoki Rd; Abark Rd ,Obiora, and Cemetery phase 2
What a way to end the year! It goes without equivocation that this administration meant it when Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR said that “it’s not going to be business as usual!”
Abia State has been breathing fresh air since the inception of this administration, and the generality of Abians speak glowingly of the giant infrastructural development strides.
The Ministry of Works is ready, remains committed, and working assiduously to ensure that the dreams and aspirations of His Excellency vis-a-vis infrastructural transformation of Abia is achieved.
