Biafra day : Umuahia in total lockdown

Umuahia the capital of Abia State was totally locked down on Thursday in full compliance with the sit-at-home declared by Biafra agitators.

It was the first time in the recent times that a sit-@-home would record total compliance in the capital city.
Most of the streets were still deserted up until 1:00pm when this report was filed.

No bank in the capital city opened for business as their gates were firmly locked.
Library Avenue where most of the banks are located was a ghost of itself.
Many schools both public and private were also locked.
Shops on the streets were equally locked down as the owners did not show up for business.
Apart from occasional movements of few vehicles, the roads were also dry.
Few individuals were observed trekking on the streets as only few tricycles were operating as at the time of filing this report.
Security was fortified at the entrance gate to the Government House probably for the eventually of the unknown.
The capital city was however, generally peaceful as not incidence of violence was recorded.
