Abia State governorship candidate of the Young Peoples Party, YPP, Enyinnaya Nwafor, an Engineer, has decried leadership failure in the state, regretting that Abia is led by “Leaders without vision”.
He blamed the woes of Abia workers and pensioners on bad leadership which according to him, has remained the greatest challenge of the state.
Wawa News Global reports that the YPP governorship candidate is the son of Abia former Deputy Governor, Chima Nwafor.
Nwafor also identified clanishness and nepotism as part of the reasons Abia had not witnessed much progress, vowing to decimate both monsters if elected.
He promised to restore the dignity of Abia workers if voted into power in the March 11 governorship poll in the state.
The governorship hopeful also promised to make Local Government workers the envy of civil service if elected.
Nwafor who made the promises when he visited the son of the Strongman of Abia politics and National Leader of Progressive Alliance Front PAF Hon Ikechukwu Apugo at his Isieke Nkata Ibeku country home, noted with concern the plight of Abia workers.
The YPP governorship hopeful acknowledged that Abia is blessed by aboundant human and natural resources but lamented that the state had been stagnated due to leadership ineptitude.
He promised to put in place the enabling environment that would provide job opportunities for the teeming youth population.
Nwafor also promised to invest in the education and skill acquisition of the youths for self reliance.
He solicited the support of Abia voters especially the youths, and promised not to disappoint Abians if given the opportunity to preside over the affairs of the state.
Nwafor also appealed to members of PAF, and its Elders in Council to mobilize support for YPP candidates at the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly polls, promising to reciprocate their support with good governance.
Responding, the National President of PAF Hon. Apugo, commended the son of the late Deputy Governor for his courage to join the governorship race, saying that his entrance into the race had provided Abia youths with the opportunity to make informed decisions.
He urged his members to vote en mass for Nwafor who he described as employer of labour.
Speaking at the event, a traditional ruler Eze Ifeanyichukwu Owoho, said that Abians had suffered immeasurably in the hands of wicked and inept leaders and needed a deliverer.
The monarch who said he was convinced that the YPP candidate, if elected, would change the narrative, urged his subjects to vote for Nwafor.
He expressed optimism that a new Abia would be born on March 11.
