Greg Ibe refutes media report insinuating crack in Abia APGA leadership
By Steve Oko
The governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in Abia State, Professor Greg Ibe, has refuted media report that there was a crack in the leadership of the party in the state, dismissing the report as fake news.
Professor Ibe in a press release by the Director, Media and Publicity of his Campaign Council, Rev. Sleek Ogwo, said that the leadership of APGA in Abia was under the firm control of the state Chairman, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere.
He also debunked the false claims by the report that he was not medically fit to govern the state, dismissing the contents of the said report as poisonous and misleading.
Below is a full text of the press release made available to Wawa News Global:
“RE- Imminent Crisis Looms In Abia Opposition: APGA, YPP, LP In Anti-Party Alliances
“Our attention has been drawn to a fallacious and malicious online publication by a faceless and unpopular medium …with the above mentioned sensational heading.
“Being a focused campaign organization we would have ignored the content of the said publication, but to forestall the possibility of misleading the public, we hereby state as follows:
“That contrary to the uninformed views expressed by the publication, there is no crisis in the Abia state chapter of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the Rev Augustine Ehiemere led State Working Committee remains the constitutionally empowered organ that currently superintends over the party.
“That the suggestion of looming crisis in the party is nothing but a figment of the faceless writer’s drug induced imagination.
“That further more the statement by the publication that the “APGA governorship has not been decided by the court and Prof Greg Ibe is said to be battling critical health challenges” is a deceptive fabrication deployed as a means of introducing doubts in the minds of Abians, with the ultimate aim of discouraging them from voting for him.
“That Prof Ibe’s candidacy has since been doubly reaffirmed by two appellate court judgements which respectively ruled to his favour.
“That as an indication of the absence of dispute in the Abia APGA governorship contest, Prof Ibe’s name is currently listed on the INEC portal as guber candidate for the 11th March 2023 election.
“That Prof Ibe is not battling any critical health challenge as wrongly insinuated by the fifth columnist but currently recovering from a leg surgery.
“That in spite of these obvious mundane and diabolic machinations currently being orchestrated and executed by the Pharohs of Abia, all in a bid to scuttle the well articulated plan by our principal to take our people to a New Abia, Prof Ibe remains focused and determined to sacrificially work for the liberation and transformation of Abia state into a land of limitless possibilities.
“Abians are therefore, encouraged to ignore these antics by benefactors of our common patrimony, who in their purpose intent to maintain an evil strangle hold on Abia treasure, device all manner of ploys to attempt to discourage well intended individuals like our principal from participating in the act governance.
The release urged Abians to conversely intensify their massive grassroots support for “Ibe and APGA in order to achieve the good plan of rewriting the sad narrative of God’s Own State.”
