Isiala Ngwa North won’t trade off its senatorial right for mere party guber ticket – Wachuku
By Steve Oko
Pioneer Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, Chief Chuku Wachuku, has said that his people of Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, would not trade off their right to produce Abia Central Senator in Saturday’s national assembly election with the decision of one political party to cede its governorship ticket to the LGA.

Wachuku who is the candidate of Young Peoples Party, YPP, in the senatorial race argued that “it is the turn of Isiala Ngwa North to produce the next Senator” of the zone in 2023 going by the prevailing local rotation arrangement in the district.
He, therefore, contended that it was illogical for anybody to think that they would forfeit their rightful entitlement simply because one of the political parties in the state decided to give its governorship ticket to somebody from the area.

The former NDE boss who is very optimistic of landslide victory in Saturday’s poll said that beyond being favoured by equity and rotation arrangement, he has the competence, exposure and necessary contacts to deliver if elected.
He further explained that the senatorial seat had always been rotated between the Ngwa clan (Umunneato) in Abia Central and their Ikwuano/Umuahia brothers.
According to him, while the other two out of three Ngwa LGAs in Abia Central had taken a shot at the seat, Isiala Ngwa North remained the only Ngwa clan in the zone yet to take its turn.
Wachuku posited that since the incumbent occupant of the seat who is from the Ikwuano/Umuahia divide would be exiting this year, power should naturally rotate back to Umunneato divide.
” The senate and governorship are totally different, and we are not going to forfeit our right”.
On how he would sweep the poll, the YPP candidate said he had the entire votes from Isiala Ngwa North to pocket as he is the sole candidate for the council.
He also predicted landslide victory in Osisioma LGA which is a stronghold and home Council of his party, YPP’s governorship candidate, Enyinnaya Chima – Nwafor.
Wachuku further predicted that he would get majority of the votes in Umuahia North LGA where his party enjoys strong support.
His words:” I’m totally comfortable that I won’t lose my Isiala Ngwa North LGA. Osisioma people are wise enough to vote for me and we are very strong in Osisioma. The National Assembly election is a precursor to the success of the governorship candidate who comes from Osisioma.
” So, Osisioma is highly mobilized for me because they also need their son to win the governorship race. Umuahia North is buying into our good policies.
” We have good programmes and policies for the family; to create real empowerment and not ‘Keke empowerment’ for the whole family; to create sustainable jobs and transfer power to the youths.”
Wachuku who predicted that no single political party might win outright majority at the 10th Senate, said each zone must endeavour to elect its first eleven so as to be relevant at the red chamber.
He equally predicted that tomorrow’s presidential poll might be decided by a run off election as no outright winner might emerge from the first ballot.
Sounding very optimistic about his victory, Wachuku declared:” I’m the right person at the right time from the right place”.
