* As Mazi Ivy pledges support for his senatorial bid

Abia North frontline senatorial candidate and the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, has said that going to the Senate is beyond building half-killometer Dubai feeder road.
Senator Ohuabunwa who made the remark when he visited
Mazi Emma Okorafor Ivy (Ogeneukwu Aro), in his Asaga Arochukwu county home, said going to the Senate is all about giving quality representation to the people, and defending their cause.
The former Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament said that the Senate is not a place for the amateur but tested and proven Parliamentarians who have good understanding of the business and intrigues of law making.
He regretted that Abia North which had hitherto produced respected voices at the red chamber, had suddenly gone mute and voiceless, but vowed to change the narrative in the forthcoming poll.
The former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health and Communicable Diseases, said time had come for Abia North to be represented by its first eleven at the upper legislative chamber.
He vowed to pursue the restoration of Arochukwu as an urban city as was contained in the Old Imo State Master plan, a project he had initiated while at the National Assembly.
Senator Ohuabunwa recalled how he facilitated the award of Ohafia/ Arochukwu federal road to Julius Berger by the federal government but regretted that local politics and face-off between the then State Government and the Centre stalled the project.
He said his return bid to the Senate was to restore the voice and dignity of Abia North, and also attract quality federal projects to the entire zone.
He promised not to discriminate against any Local Government Area in the distribution of federal projects.
Senator Ohuabunwa recalled that during his brief stay at the red chamber he flooded communities in Abia North with primary health centres and other projects besides qualified constituents he assisted to secure federal job opportunities.
He, expressed delight that many communities in the zone which were deceived to believe the blackmails against him in 2019 had now known better, and are rooting for his return to the Senate.
Senator Ohuabunwa particularly expressed delight that the entire Aro kingdom was firmly united behind his senatorial ambition unlike before.
He thanked Mazi Ivy for receiving him with open hands as his brother and kinsman saying that the renewed ties between them had sent jittery waves down the spine of the enemies of progress.
Responding, Mazi Ivy recalled his role in the development of Arochukwu kingdom and expressed his readiness to support whatever would bring progress to the ancient kingdom.
He described Ohuabunwa as an illustrious and proud son of Arochukwu, declaring that his written testimony about the lawmaker while he was in the House of Representatives subsists.
” I have not withdrawn the letter of commendation I wrote about you”, he said.
The industrialist pledged his total support for Ohuabunwa’s senatorial ambition, saying he had distinguished himself at the National Assembly.
He urged all Aro sons and daughters home and abroad to support the project and help move the kingdom forward.
Speaking earlier, Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa who accomplished his brother to the visit, described Mazi Ivy as his alter ego whom he had related well with for a long time.
He recalled how both of them had worked together at various times and platforms for the development of Arochukwu kingdom, and commended him for his inestimable contributions for the development of Arochukwu.
Mazi Ohuabunwa said time had come for all Aro people to be more united in advancing the cause of Aro and Abia North than pursuing individual interests.
The visit was witnessed by some key stakeholders in Aro politics who say it was a major milestone in Ohuabunwa’s senatorial bid.
One of the stakeholders who pleaded anonymity told Wawa News Global that the political enemies of Senator Ohuabunwa would develop shock when the news of the reconciliation between the two illustrious families in Aro kingdom would be out.
He expressed delight that Aro people were now determined and united not to allow a repeat of the great mistake of 2019.
The stakeholders described Mazi Ivy as an indispensable force and a patriotic Aro whose avowed support for Senator Ohuabunwa carries big weight and positive implications.
