Former SSA describes Diri,s 365 days in office as monumental strides
A former SSA on Inter-party and Political Matters, Miriki Ebikibina has described Senator Douye Diri’s one year in office as commendable, hopeful, challenging and successful – despite distractions from numerous court cases, flooding and the Covid 19 pandemic.
Miriki, in a press statement issued Saturday commended the governor for making good on his promise of consolidation; which is evident in the education, infrastructure and health sectors, as well as welfare of civil servants, pensioners amongst others.
He however stressed the need for the Governor to do more on security, youth empowerment and engagement, tourism and completion of abandoned projects by the previous Government.
The former SSA noted that though the Governor has stabilised the polity, he must, however, be ready to step on toes and match his words with action to rejig his cabinent so as to drive his vision to meet the yearning and expectation of the people.
While felicitating with the Governor on his one year in office, Miriki pointed out that the need for the governor not to heed to talks from sycophants, hypocrites, praise singers and blackmailers cannot be over-emphasised-as they are the greatest enemy of his government.
He said the time is now for the Governor to take full charge of his govt and shed off the excessive baggage inherited; to make way for competence and purposeful governance.
