* Says 16 new roads ready for commissioning

Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State said he had inaugurated a committee to redesign Abia airport.
His predecessor, Senator Theodore Orji, had before his exit, initiated the airport project which has remained at the cradle.
The Governor who disclosed this Thurday in Umuahia while speaking at the Abia @ 29 celebration, said his administration was making serious efforts to actualise the project which, he added would help boost the state economy.
Ikpeazu also disclosed that 16 new roads completed by his administration would be commissioned before the end of September.
The governor said the new roads when commissioned, would bring the number of roads so far built by his administration to a total of 200.
Other key projects identified by Ikpeazu for completion before the end of his second tenure include the new Abia Government House which was commenced by his predecessor, and the Abia Joint Allocation Committee, JAC meeting.
The governor who scored his administration high especially in the education sector, attributed the recent ranking of the Abia State University Uturu ABSU as the 26th in Nigeria to the efforts of his administration in the education sector .
According to the Governor, ABSU is also currently the 2nd Best State University in Nigeria, a feat he said was an eloquent testimony of his administration’s heavy investment in the education sector.
Ikpeazu who noted with delight that Abia State had maintained the first position in the West African Examination Council, WAEC, for the last four years, said his administration had so far built 350 new class room blocks.
