Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu, has been commended for building the Okobo bridge linking Abam clan with other communities in Arochukwu Local Government Area, abandoned over 100 years ago.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area, Engr. Isaac Nkole who made the commendation on behalf of the Abam Onyerubi people said the governor had by the feat, broken a jinx which previous administrations in the state attempted but could not break.

Isaac Nkole

According to him, the people of Abam home and abroad will remain eternally grateful to Gov Ikpeazu for building the historic bridge.

He noted that the bridge had been the major set back to the completion of the Abam – Arochukwu road which is the shortest route to Arochukwu and the link between communities in Abam clan and their sister communities in the LGA without having to pass through Ohafia.

Nkole acknowledged the efforts of the administration of former Governor Theodore Orji which began the road project from Ozuabam to Ndi-Ikorie Abam, as well as Senator Mao Ohuabunwa for facilitating the project .

He, therefore, appealed to Gov. Ikpeazu who he described as gross root governor to also ensure the completion of the road project considering its economic impirtance

Nkole decried the deplorable condition of the road which he said had totally collapsed, and pleaded with the governor to come to the rescue of the people whom he said had suffered so much as a result.

He noted that Abam which hosts the famous Abia Rubber Estate is an important agricultural belt of the state that deserves access road for the evacuation of agricultural produce.

Nkole who thanked the State Executive Council for its recent approval for 19 road projects pleaded for the inclusion of the long abandoned Abam /Arochukwu road which he said “is currently in a very bad shape “.
