By Steve Oko
The Chancellor and Proprietor of Gregory University Uturu, Professor Greg Ibe, has tasked Muslims in Nigeria on the unity and peaceful co-existence of the various ethnic nationalities in the country.
This was contained in his Eid-Al-Fitr goodwill message to Muslim faithful in Nigeria.
Professor Ibe in the message personally signed by him, called on Muslims to use the season of sallah to pray for the peace and unity of Nigeria which he said were essential for the continued existence of the country as a political entity.
“The world as we know it has changed and of course due to no fault of ours. Even so, my brothers and sisters, we must continue to make supplications to God for His abundant blessings spon us all while looking out for each other and ensuring we maintain unity and peaceful coexistence”, the statement read in part.
He also urged Muslims to use the season to pray for divine solution to the deadly coronavirus pandemic, and to endeavour to observe all the necessary protocols and personal hygiene needed to stem the spread of the global pandemic.
“As we celebrate this year’s Eid-al-Fitr, we must maintain caution and sustain our practice of all health protocols in mitigating the adverse effects of the global pandemic”, Professor Ibe said.
Professor Ibe also urged the Muslim community in Abia to maintain peace with their neighbours and seek the prosperity of the state.
“I enjoin all Muslim Ummah here in Abia State and in our country Nigeria to continuously uphold the tenets of Islam (Peace) even as we carry on with our lives within the allowed dictates of our leaders.
“May Allah (SWT) always guide you as you journey through life and may you have the courage to work to achieve peace and progress here in Abia State and our nation, Nigeria.
“It is my hope and my truest desire that you enjoy every moment of the sallah celebrations even as we beseech God to accept our fasts and prayers”.
He wished Muslims happy and peaceful sallah celebration.
“May the blessings of Allah (SWT) create more happiness and enlightenment while leading you to the path of peace and success.
“Ramadan Kareem to all Muslim Faithful, here In Abia State and around our country, Nigeria and may the blessings of Allah (SWT) remain with you as we celebrate the Eid-Al-Fitri and beyond. Eid-Mubarak!”Steve Oko, Publisher/C.E.O, WaWa News Global.
