As the deadly coronavirus pandemic takes its toll on countries , Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has urged Abians particularly his  people of Abia North senatorial district to endeavour to observe the necessary hygiene protocols to stay safe.
The former Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament in a statement advised the people to strictly comply with all directives by the Ministry of Health, Governments and other necessary stakeholders.
In the statement entitled :”Message of Hope from Senator Mao Ohuabunwa”, the former Senate Committee Chairman on Primary Health Care noted that the pandemic is not a death sentence but urged the people to try their best to avoid getting infested.
Senator Ohuabunwa who was instrumental to the establishment of National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC enjoined Abians to observe social distancing, regularly wash their hands with soap in a running water, and apply hand sanitizer.
“The statement read in part :”Abians stay safe wherever you are, coronavirus is real but  not a death sentence.
“However, protect yourself and  others from getting infected; Strictly adhere to hygiene  advice by medical experts ; Always wash your hands with soap in running water.
“Avoid touching your eyes, nose and  mouth;  Make use of hand sanitizer at intervals;  Maintain social Distancing. If you have fever, cough  and difficulty in breathing, seek early medical  care in any isolation centre close to you .
“Stay away from crowd and avoid unnecessary travels;  Pray and seek God’s intervention;  Always stay informed and comply with directives from relevant authorities. Lets all support the efforts of government both federal and state in steming the spread of coronavirus.”
Senator Ohuabunwa expressed faith that God would not allow the pandemic to spread over to Abia State on whose name the state is addressed.
“Abia is God’s Own State and He will not permit the pandemic to berthe in the state. Together we shall all survive. Do not panic but put your trust in God.”
