We ‘ve planted the seed of Biafra self-determination in European Union – IPOB
By Steve Oko
The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has said that the visit of its Leader, Nnamdi Kanu to the European Union in Brussels where he addressed EU Parliamentarians on Tuesday, marked a major breakthrough in the struggle for Biafra restoration.
IPOB said the visit which was at the instance of EU Parliament was very significant as it had taken the agitation for Biafra to the global stage.
The pro -Biafra group said that by the visit, “the seed of Biafra self-determination had been planted in the heart of the EU. “
IPOB in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, thanked EU for not only receiving but keenly listening to Kanu while addressing the parliamentarians on Biafra.
IPOB noted that the Nigerian authorities tried but in vein to scuttle the visit which it said had sent panic waves to Abuja.
Below is a full text of the statement made available to Wawa News Global :
“We the great and noble family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) worldwide commend the European Parliament especially those members that invited our leader to the hugely successful landmark and historical briefing session with IPOB in Brussels yesterday. The historic meeting was held in the European Parliament in Brussels Belgium on 10th of September, 2019.
“Our invitation to this great meeting is signifies that IPOB is not only respected but regarded as a force for good in Africa. Events in Brussels has confirmed that Biafra restoration project is divinely ordained by Almighty God, hence all efforts by the Nigerian Government to intimidate and bully the organisers failed spectacularly. The seed of Biafra self-determination has been planted in the heart of the EU.
“We equally thank IPOB Hardcore across Europe, especially those that drove for two days from Norway and other countries to be part of this historic engagement. The awesome and great turn out of our Biafran brothers and sisters in Brussel is confirmation that all our people need right now is Biafra and nothing else. Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu made it clear that the struggle for Biafra freedom has shifted to the international community. We are demanding the European Union to hold Nigeria to account fot serial human rights abuses and most critically to support the fundamental right of Biafra to seek self determimation within the ambit of international law.
We remain conscious of the fact that Nigerian government will continue with their blackmail, subterfuge and misinformation but we wish to assure them that IPOB diplomatic team has more pedigree than anything Nigeria Foreign Affairs Ministry can muster. Their desperate bid and effort to stop our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from meeting with EU parliamentarians has failed and will continue to fail. The more the Nigerian state fight IPOB, the stronger and more resolute we become. All their efforts failed woefully because (Chukwu Okike Abiama) God Almighty the creator of Heaven and Earth is on the side of the Biafran people.
Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu assured every Biafran after the meeting that his next diplomatic mission will be to the UN. Our diplomatic moves are designed to take Biafra freedom to another level, way beyond the imagination of the Nigerian government, before the end of this year.
Again, our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu during his address to the huge crowd that came to greet him after the event, promised Biafrans that he will be in Washington DC and United Nations to which the crowd erupted in spontaneous applause.
IPOB family members took over EU Parliament yesterday and the conduct of the civilised Belgium Police and undercover intelligence officers that provided close quarter security for our leader, is something Nigerian security services should emulate. IPOB has global recognition and respect, it’s about time the Nigerian government acknowledge this obvious fact.
