Nkole wants OUK investigated over Abia newspaper’s printing press, OBJ erosion control largess

By Steve Oko

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abam, Arochukwu Local Government Area, has called for an investigation of former Abia Governor and senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu over his role and the whereabouts of the printing press purportedly procured for the state-owned Abambassador newspapers while he was governor.

Nkole, a political ally of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa also urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to properly investigate Kalu on how he spent the N250 million Ecological fund released to Abia by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo administration for gully erosion control at Isuikwuato.

The PDP chieftain was reacting to a recent media comment by member representing Bende North in the Abia State House of Assembly,  Hon. Chijioke Chukwu where he blasted Ohuabunwa for inspecting the reconstruction of Arochukwu Township Stadium “as if he is a sitting senator “.

Chukwu had also accused Ohuabunwa of not achieving “anything”  for the zone while he was at the senate, claiming that Kalu’s short stay at the red chamber had opened a new vista for the zone than the many years of Ohuabunwa’s reign.

The lawmaker alleged that Ohuabunwa did not attract any other development in the senatorial district apart from the stadium he built in Arochukwu, insisting that he impoverished the people.

But Nkole sharply disagreed with the lawmaker who he described as Kalu’s puppet and political boot-leaker,  saying that “Kalu is a disaster to Abia North”.

Nkole said Kalu’s eight years as Governor was a total disappointment with no tangible thing for Abia North to show for it.

He said that Kalu “still have some uncleared” issues over his stewardship as Abia governor.

His words :” Orji uzor kalu should account for #500,000,000.00 that was given to him by the former Nigeria President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to check  gully erosion in Abia North.

“Please EFCC should  investigate this man very well and also the money that was budgeted for Abia State airport project and Abia State Newspapers”.

Nkole who dismissed Kalu as ” an interim senator, challenged the former governor to explain to Abians the source of funds for his private newspaper outfit, The SUN at a time the state owned newspaper was struggling to stand.

The visibly aggrieved Nkole warned both Chukwu and his pay master  to stop disparaging Senator Ohuabunwa who he said had given Abia North and Ndigbo quality representation.

His words : ” This puppet lawmaker who hardly understands the business of lawmaking should stop seeking cheap popularity by attacking Senator Ohuabunwa just to win the favour of Kalu his pay master .

” He should know that both of them are no match to Ohuabunwa who remains an unbeatable voice for Ndigbo at the Senate.

” Chukwu and his Ruga senator should know that they are the worst thing that has happened to Abia North. Those holding stolen mandate should be ashamed of themselves and not to seek cheap popularity “.

Nkole said Kalu had turned into an advocate of Northern interest all in his bid to get their protection over multiple corruption charges against him.

” Abia North cannot allow a man whose only achievement is advocacy for Ruga to continue to hold their mandate “.
