Police arrest, parade suspected killers of Enugu Catholic priest, kidnappers of monarch, wife

In less than one month of his gruesome murder, the police in Enugu Friday paraded suspected killers of Enugu Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Paul Offu.
The suspects were also responsible for the kidnap of Agbogwugwu monarch, HRH Igwe Sunday Orji and his wife a fortnight ago along Enugu -Port Harcourt Express way, which they confessed to.
The late Rev FR Offu, Parish Priest of St. James the Greater Parish, Ugbaka was murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen while he was traveling around the same vicinity where the monarch was abducted .
Commissioner of police, Sulieman Balarabe who paraded the two prime suspects along with 30 others involved in various other crimes said three of their accomplices were still on the run.
The CP gave the names of the two suspected killers of Fr. Offu as one Ibrahim Adamu , 25 , from Taraba State; and Idris Tobe, 28 .
He equally identified the three fleeing suspects as Garba Basulugu, Mohammed Laguband Mojunpan Duna.
Meanwhile, the suspected killers the Catholic priest told newsmen during interview that they were not responsible for the dastardly act although they admitted abducting the monarch and his wife.
Paraded also were three suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Rev Fr Clement Rapuruchukwu of St. Mary Catholic parish, Obunofia Ndiuno on March 14 2019.
The suspects, Sunday Chibuko, Benjamin Osogwu and Wasiu Ajomale admitted committing the crime, while police said that one of the suspects is still at large.
The police also paraded one Idris Umaru whom they said was arrested in Edo state in connection with the killing of a former Secretary of Uzo-Uwani local government area in Enugu state, earlier this year.
The state commissioner of police, Sulieman Balarabe said that a total of 30 suspects paraded were involved in different forms of criminalities, adding that they will all be arraigned in courts very soon.
Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi had ordered the clearing of bushes and demolition of caves around the scene of the murder of the priest as one of the measures to smoke out criminal elements using the area as a hideout.
Catholic priests had also gone on protest around Enugu metropolis where they prayed against the masterminds.
