The traditional ruler of Umucha Amuda Isuochi, Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, HRH Eze Wilson Egbo could not hold his emotions during the commissioning of a water project in the community as he not only knelt but prostrated on the ground in appreciation to God for ending the plights of his subjects over water shortage.
The incident occurred Wednesday when the immediate-past senator representing Abia North, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa came to commission a solar-powered water borehole project he attracted to the community.
The highly elated monarch who said accute water shortage had been the major challenge of the community, in an emotion-laden voice glorified God for using the senator to end decades of their water needs.
He also showered blessings on the senator for the gesture which he said was the ultimate need of his subjects.
“Since 2001 when I was corronated this community has never witnessed such a great project “, he declared.
The project sited at the premises of a Primary Health Care Centre also attracted by Senator Ohuabunwa was executed by the Federal Ministry of Water Resources .
He expressed shock that the senator could still have the courage to ensure the execution and completion of projects initiated by him despite being out of power .
The monarch prayed God to “restore Ohuabunwa’s stolen mandate” , so he could continue with “his good works for the people”.
He refuted the establishment of Ruga in the council contrary to claims by Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
Kalu had in a press conference in Abuja claimed he brought Ruga to Abia while he was governor.
But the Monarch who said the cattle market at Lokpanta was not the same with Ruga avered that Ruga would never be allowed in any part of the Abia.
Responding, Ohuabunwa who is still challenging the emergence of Kalu (APC) at the elections petitions tribunal , said the gesture was in fulfilment of his campaign promises.
The PDP senator said he was not “a commercial politician who only remembers his constituents during elections” but one with a calling to add value to lives.
Ohuabunwa who said he was highly grieved when it came to his notice that the community was suffering from perennial water challenge, said he decided to put an end to their plights.
He, therefore, charged them to safeguard the facility particularly the solar panel against vandals.
The senator who regretted that two similar projects he also attracted at Mbala and Amuda Isochi were abandoned by local contractors even when full payment had been made.
He appealed to the LGA Chairman to stampeed the contractors to complete the projects or recover the funds from them.
Ohuabunwa who also commissioned two health care centres recently at Achara and Lokpanta, promised to ensure the completion of all projects he attracted to the zone which were captured in the 2019 budget.
He solicited continued prayers of the people for a favourable outcome of his suit against Kalu, promising to do more if he gets back to the red chamber.
Ohuabunwa later commissioned another borehole water project at Obilohia Umuobiala community in Isuikwuato.
He also commissioned the renovated Amangele Ukwu Primary Health Care Centre Ovim executed by the Primary Health Care Centre Development Agency.
Chairman of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chima Agbeze thanked the senator for extending federal presence to rural communities.
