The  crisis rocking the Edo State House of Assembly, today (July 30), assumed a frightening dimension as the Senate has given one week ultimatum to Gov. Godwin Obaseki to issue a fresh proclamation for the proper inauguration of the Assembly or risk the take over of the Assembly by the National Assembly.

According to the Senate , if the governor failed to comply with the directive  within a week, National Assembly would  invoke its powers as contained in the constitution by taking over legislative functions of the Edo State House of Assembly

The development followed the adoption of the report of the Senate ad hoc committee on the Edo State House of Assembly crisis, presented by the Chairman, Senator Sabi Abdullahi.

The Senate action was in line with the House of Representatives, which issued similar directives two weeks ago.
