According to the Senate , if the governor failed to comply with the directive within a week, National Assembly would invoke its powers as contained in the constitution by taking over legislative functions of the Edo State House of Assembly
The development followed the adoption of the report of the Senate ad hoc committee on the Edo State House of Assembly crisis, presented by the Chairman, Senator Sabi Abdullahi.
The Senate action was in line with the House of Representatives, which issued similar directives two weeks ago.
Edo Assembly has been engrossed in supremacy battle between loyalists of Gov. Obaseki, and those of his predecessor and the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC, Comrade Adams Oshomhole.
