By Steve Oko
Reports reaching Wawa News Global say no fewer than 20 soldiers and their Commander, a Colonel, have been ambushed and killed by Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe state.
TheCable reports that a source confirmed to it that the ambush occurred on Wednesday.
According to the report, the troops were on transit when they ran into Boko Haram ambush.
The report however did not disclose the number of casualties on the side of the terrorists.
“They were on their way to Benisheikh when they ran into the enemy. The commander of that brigade, a colonel, and about 20 soldiers were killed,” he said.
Meanwhile there has been angry reactions by Nigerians on the social media since the news filtered in.
Some commentators accuse the Federal Government of not doing enough to crush the terrorists, wondering why it has continued to release some Boko Haram members captured in the battle field under the guise of deradicalisation.
They also accuse government of not adequately equipping the soldiers who are staking their lives to defend the country .
