Breaking : Abia government extends operational time of ‘KEKE’

The Abia State Government has extended the operational time of tricycles popularly known as “KEKE”.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu in a press release issued Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, said the operational time had been extended from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.
Government had around April this year, limited the operational time of KEKE from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm citing the the rising crime wave as reason for the action.
The release said in part :”Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, PhD has approved the extension of the hours of operation of Tricycle Operators, popularly known as Keke to 9pm every day in Aba and Umuahia.
“This extension takes immediate effect.
“Tricycle Operators under the aegis of the Abia State Amalgamated Tricycle Operators Association should reciprocate the magnanimity of the Governor, be of good behavior, and checkmate the use of their Tricycles for criminal activities.
“The Governor directs the Commissioner of Police, Abia State and Heads of other Security Agencies in the State to remain vigilant and intensify their patrols with a view to nipping in the bud, any criminal activity that may emanate from this extension.”
