Gov. Emeka Ihedioha
According to community source, trouble started when the host community went to ask the herders to stop grazing on their farm land following continuous destruction of their crops by cows.
Instead of heeding the plea, the herders were said to have opened fire shooting sporadically into the air apparently to scare away the locals.
Although no casualties were recorded yet, the incident was said to have caused tension in the area as locals scampered for safety.
When contacted the Imo state Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, Orlando Ikeokwu, said he had not yet been briefed on the matter.
Wawa News Global reports that members of the community have severally complained about the incessant destruction of their crops by cows.
