Biafra, more than ally to Israel – Jerusalem deputy mayor
* Says every nation deserves right to self rule

The agitation for the restoration of Biafra republic got a major boost yesterday as the Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem, Mrs. Flair Hassan Nachum, has described Biafra as more than a strategic ally but a family member of Israel.
Nachum who made the declaration during a live programme on Radio Biafra, Middle East expressed full support of the Jewish nation towards Biafran liberation.
The mayor and British-trained legal luminary said that while she was growing up, her father had always told her about Biafra genocide, and declared that time had come for such oppressions to end.
She said Israel and Biafra shared a lot in common particularly the better -imagined holocaust / genocide experience.
Her words : ” When I was growing up, my parents told me about terrible genocide going on in Biafra. Since then I understood there was something in common between Israel and Biafra.
” Israel is more than ally to Biafra; we are family members. “
The Deputy Mayor who expressed sadness over the conditions of Biafrans in Nigeria said she was part of a project aimed at bringing together all tribes in the world that have Jewish identify.
She further said that she strongly believed that “every nation deserves self determination, and every people deserve security “.
The Major also urged Biafrans to keep a memorial for the genocide perpetrated against them during the Nigeria civil war , arguing that history should not be discarded.
” Find ways of remembering or memorising history”, she said, while urging Biafra agitators not to be discouraged by their horrible past experiences.
” We have to start talking of the Biafra genocide. Israel believes in history. Start memorising your history “.
She poured encomiums on the Leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who she affirmed “is an incorruptible leader”.
Nahum who posited that every good leader must have integrity to command respect and fellowship , likened Kanu to late Nelson Mandela of South Africa.
She further noted that when a people are self determined they could exploit their resources for economic development and live in peace with their neighbours.
Her remarks came amidst global diplomatic consultations by Kanu to mobilise more international support for the restoration of Biafra.
Kanu has during his on-going tours, visited many states in the United States of America, and Canada where he received a resounding welcome by Biafrans in the Diaspora.
