By Steve Oko
Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has said work would soon resume at the new Abia Government House , vowing to complete the project before the expiration of his second tenure.
The project was initiated by his immediate predecessor, Senator Theodore Orji but got stocked since he left office in 2015.
Ikpeazu who visited the site Monday at Ogurube New Layout for on-the -spot inspection said work would resume at the site in few months time.
He called on the contractor handling the project to meet with him in his office for discussion on the payment modalities.
The Governor expressed willingness to complete the project which he said was very dear to the state.
“This is an ambitious project but it will be done “.
“We intend to come back here to re-commence work in a few months time; abandoning it is not an option”, he assured.
Ikpeazu however, admitted that the volume of work to be done “is enormous”, but added that it has to be vigorously pursued and completed in Abia interest.
The Governor has come under heavy criticism particularly by his opponents for abandoning the project.
