Operation ‘Puff Adder’ yielding results – AIG

The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police in charge of Zone 9, Baba Tijani, has said that the “Operation Puff Adder” recently launched by the Inspector General of Police, IGP, is yielding positive results.
Tijani made the confession when the new leadership of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Abia State paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
He said that the operation aimed at combating the rising crime level in the country has been a tremendous success in the zone.
Tijani lauded the fighting spirit of the officers and men of the command as well as members of the public for the successes recorded so far in the operation.
The AIG who described journalists as critical stakeholders in crime prevention and security management solicited the support and cooperation of media practitioners in the fight against crime in the zone.
He also pledged the assistance of the police to journalists in the discharge of their duties as partners in progress to make society a better place.
Tijani appealed to journalists to always put the interest of the country above other considerations in their news reportage.
Earlier in his remarks, Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Comrade Obinna Ibe assured the AIG of the readiness of journalists to partner with police for optimal service delivery.
He solicited the support of the police in checking quacks and fake journalists who give the noble pen profession bad image.
Comrade Ibe particularly pleaded with the police to help restore night life in Umuahia by beefing up security and patrol around the metropolis.
