By Steve Oko
The candidates of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Dr. Alex Otti; and his All Progressive Congress, APC, Dr. Uche Ogah, have rejected the result of the Abia State governorship election won by Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Ikpeazu had won the poll with a total of 261,127 according to the poll result declared by the Returning Officer, Professor Benjamin Ozumba.
Ogah came second with 99,574 while Otti came third with 64,366 votes.
Otti and Ogah who jointly addressed the press at Hotel Damgrate shortly after Ikpeazu was declared winner, called for the cancellation of the election.
They alleged massive electoral fraud by PDP in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Otti alleged that PDP connived with security agents and INEC to change results.
Otti who spoke for the duo at the press briefing expressed shock that INEC re-appointed Ozumba after ” he denied me of my victory in 2015″.
He said INEC in the spirit of fair play , ought not to have re-appointed “a man who gave my mandate to PDP in 2015”.
“The results collated in various LGAs are not only fraudulent ,they were not in consistent with the card reader details “, he said.
