AIG, Oyebade tasks police on professionalism

The new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone XI which comprises Osun, Oyo and Ondo States Police Commands, AIG Leye Oyebade, has charged officers and men of the Zone to be professional in their conducts.
Oyebade who said he had zero tolerance for any form of unprofessionalism, tasked them to be diligent, honest, hardworking and to operate with the fear of God.
The former Commissioner of Police Abia State, gave the admonition while addressing personnel of the Zone XI Zonal Command Headquarters, Osogbo.
Oyebade sternly warned officers and men of the command against unprofessional conducts such as corruption and indolence.
He said that any erring police officer found desecrating the image of the Force would be severely dealt with.
Speaking during the lecture, he reminded a cross section of police officers from the Operations Department, Admin, and CIID to be guided by their Code of Conduct and professional ethics.
The Police Chief also warned officers against infringement on the fundamental rights of the citizens in the course of performing their duties.
Similarly, the AIG said that officers in the CIID must always carry out proper investigation and diligent prosecution of cases as well as understand legal issues and strive towards having evidential requirements for successful prosecution.
While assuring the officers of the determination of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to address welfare of the Police, he said there was need for training and retraining to build capacity of the police especially in the Zone.
He promised that he would ensure regular training of the personnel to increase their proficiency in arms handling so as to avoid cases of accidental discharge.
