Atiku thrashes Buhari in Abia, wins 15 out of 17 LGAs

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar has swept the presidential poll in Abia State.
Atiku polled a total of 219,698 votes while his closest rival, President Muhammadu Buhari scored 85,068 votes to come second.
The candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA came a distant third with only 250,000 votes .
Collation Officers for each of the LGAs declared the results of their councils as they arrived the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Umuahia with the collated results.
The declarations were supervised by the State Collation Officer, Professor C. U Nwajiuba of the Federal University Abakaliki, in the presence of the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Joseph Ilo, the security agencies, the press and other stakeholders.
Atiku won in 15 out of the 17 LGAs in the state while Buhari only escaped with two councils.
The two councils won by Buhari include Bende, the home LGA of former Gov. Orji Uzor Kalu and the APC senatorial candidate for Abia North; and Isuikwuato, the council of APC governorship candidate, Dr. Uche Ogah.
