I’ve not withdrawn from senatorial race – Ohuabunwa
By Steve Oko
Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, representing Abia North senatorial district, has debunked reports in the social media that he had withdrawn from the race.
He dismissed the report trending on the platform of his major opponent and former Governor of the state, Orji Uzor Kalu, as a cheap propaganda and malicious mischief.
Describing the report as fake news and the antics of his jittery detractors, Ohuabunwa urged members of the public to disregard the report of his purported withdrawal.
Speaking with Wawa News Global, Ohuabunwa said : ” The report of my purported withdrawal is the handiwork of Orji Uzor Kalu whose stock in trade is deceipt.
“He is already aware of the crushing defeat and humiliation awaiting him in today’s poll, hence his resort to lies and cheap propaganda to deceive the public.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to remind my good people of Abia North that I am very much in the race and have not stepped down for anybody.
” I urge you all to troop out enmass and cast your votes today without fear. By the grace of God and your unwavering support the enemy will again be disgraced today “.
The report of the purported withdrawal had said that , ” after wide-spread consultations across Abia North senatorial zone, Ohunabunwa has decided to withdraw from the senatorial race.
“The people of Abia North have adopted former Governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Kalu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as their candidate.
” Politics is about the people and I am confident that Kalu will do a great job in advancing the cause of the people”.
But Ohuabunwa said Kalu planted the said report to deceive the gullible minds.
He advised him to think of better way of advancing his political cause than resorting to lies and deceipt “which, any way have reminded his trade mark”.
